Summer & Beach Safety

Our beach is fantastic! It's also deceivingly calm and peaceful looking. Before venturing into the sea please take a moment to read these simple tips for avoiding trouble and staying safe. There are many excellent guides for safe beach combing, a Google search will provide more detailed Baja Beach information.

  • Tides - Don't get caught by surprise! Our tides are tricky and very dangerous if you're wandering far from shore on an incoming tide. Today's Tide
  • "Rip Tides" & Currents - Our tidal currents can be strong. If you find yourself "stuck" in a current taking your away from the beach, don't panic, let the current take you as you swim parallel to the beach. Eventually you'll feel the current release you and you can make your way to shore.
  • Drink Water - You can dehydrate fast, especially if you are drinking alcohol.
  • Strong Sunscreen -  Apply it often, especially if you're in and out of the water. You'll burn super-fast here, even on cloudy days.
  • Watch for stingrays - Do the "San Felipe Shuttle - slide your feet along the bottom instead of stepping straight down. The stingray "hears" you coming and scoots away.
  • Umbrellas & Shade - You're going to want shade and you won't have it if you don't bring it yourself. Be prepared  for the wind.
  • Protect your feet - It's best not to go barefoot walking along the beach.

Excessive Noise

Excessive noise is prohibited between 10:00PM and 8:00AM. If you experience loud partying or loud music after 10:00PM, please contact the Guard Shack: +52-686-162-4647. You can "chat" with them on WhatsApp at that same number, and they are able to translate the chat if communication in Spanish is not possible.

Community Safety Hazards

If you notice any circumstances that are causing a safety hazard in the community, please notify us at: pdohoa.bod@gmail.com. Landscaping on street corners and intersections that obstruct driver visibility, glassware being used at the pool, large objects in the roadways are some of the things to watch out for.
